Depressingly, the US supreme court has overturned previous verdicts and decided that file-sharing technology companies are responsible for what end users do with their product (see this piece on the BBC).

This could potentially set a bit of a precedent, though… If gun manufacturers could be held accountable for every crime committed with their products…
